RAIN Session Workshop set for June 15-16, 2026

Rain session Workshop on june 15-16, 2026

A rain session workshop for dancers will be held on June 15-16, at the RMP studio. Ron McKinney will lead the workshop with a day full of education on how to market, sell, and conduct a rain session shoot, whether you plan to hold it indoors or out.

We will go over the logistics of the rain session shoot, how to work the water, and the gear needed to conduct a rain session shoot. We will also show you how to photograph the subject, and show how to throw water at the subjects, which is an art in itself.

The workshop will go from 12-6 pm on June 15, and 9 am to 3 pm on June 16. The location is 800 McArdle Drive, Crystal Lake IL. When you pull into our parking lot, we are down at the end of the building.

I plan to offer a second day of classes as well that will focus on editing and marketing, and then provide a second opportunity to shoot portfolio shots.

We are also offering a Color Powder Workshop on July 7-8.

The idea is to provide you with the skills to do a rain session shoot with whatever gear you currently have. You will want to bring your camera for the part where you take pictures. However, if you are flying in and would rather not bring your camera gear, I will have a Nikon Z9 here that you can use. Photographers will have plenty of time to shoot as a group with the goal of capturing multiple images you can use for your portfolio.

All attendees will also have access to our editing tutorial videos, which also shows how to use our rain overlays.

We are limiting registration to 20 attendees. Price is $395 for the one-day workshop that focuses just on photographing the rain session. If you have a second person from your photography studio, their price is just $295. The second day will initially focus on editing and marketing, and wrap up with more shooting for the attendees. It’s $595 for both days, or $395 for each day.
