About Us

Ron McKinney Photography is family owned photography studio in the Chicago suburbs. Ron’s passion for photography has taken his family on the amazing journey of creating a business. His wife, Beth, helps manage and organize the studio and his children, Elle, Mia and Casey, are volunteer movers, popcorn servers, production assistants, painters, and cleaners :)

Ron’s work has been published in many national magazines, including Dance Magazine and Pointe, as well as PetaPixel, an international online magazine for photographers. Ron photographs many McHenry County Magazine, Kane County Magazine, and Suburban Life Magazine covers through our partnership with Shaw Media. We are the official photographers for Ballet Chicago and DePaul University cheer and dance teams, as well as many dance studios, gymnastics teams, swim teams and many other sports teams throughout Chicagoland. These teams come to us for our unique style, our experience and skill set during the shoot and in editing, and the artistic edge and passion we bring to every photo session. Ron and Beth are also the founders of Pas de Deux Photo, an online community for dance photographers that hosts an annual photographer conference, and a dance photo competition.

In 2018, we added Sara Mason to our team. Sara is our primary photo editor and studio coordinator, keeping things running smoothly and offering some cool design skills to our studio.
