Dance auditions
Audition photos are used for preferred summer intensives, professional company auditions, and college dance program auditions. We recommend scheduling an appointment at least 3-4 weeks before the images are needed. We usually shoot against our white backdrop for audition pictures, and dancers should wear a simple leo for this. While their hair can be down for their headshot, their hair should be in a bun for ballet audition pictures.
Our studio in Crystal Lake, IL, is well-equipped with both white and black marley flooring, and our audition shots are always shot on white. Our cyc wall allows for dancer’s movement to be showcased cleanly in all shots. We have a large mirror so you can see yourself as you pose for the shot, and then the shots are immediately displayed on a 55-inch monitor.
After your session, you’ll receive a gallery of images from which to choose. You can purchase digital download and/or prints for professional use.
Our audition session is $245 for the session and four full resolution JPGs: one headshot, one arabesque (for ballet), and two other poses. One other common pose for ballet auditions is the tendu a la seconde. The audition session usually takes up to 30 minutes.
Artistic Dance Shoot added to Audition Shoot
We encourage dancers to do more than just an audition photo shoot if they’re already coming in for that. It’s a great opportunity to get creative and get some shots in with dramatic lighting that would look amazing on the walls at your home. Once the audition session is over, we can spend an extra hour doing a creative studio shoot, and we’ll waive the $100 session fee. I have packages for JPGs from these artistic dance sessions starting at 5 social media JPGs for $375 (or $495 for full resolution) or 10 social media JPGs for $675 (or $895 for full resolution).
