Illinois State Competitive Dance Team at the Studio

I’ve been doing the official Illinois State Dance Team photos each summer as their dance photographer but this was the first time they traveled to Crystal Lake to get some artistic shots in the studio. So I was pretty excited and looked forward to getting them some great shots.

For many of the dancers, this was their first studio shoot ever. And that’s a little more common than I’d like it to be.

So we got some shots against the white background, added some silk fabrics, then did shots against the black background with some edgy lighting, and got some shots against the red color backdrop.

The whole session with 21 dancers took around 5 hours, but we got some sensational shots out of it. Scroll down below and check them out!
