Hampshire High School Varsity Dance Team photo shoot on location

I always like when a dance team chooses a location next to a river, because I know we’re going to end up in the river at the end of the shoot. The Hampshire High School varsity dance team did not disappoint me!

Having a river as an idyllic background provides a gorgeous backdrop for dancers.

When we do these types of shoots, we get shots of the full team, class groups, buddy shots, and individual poses and leaps. We sometimes get shots of the dancers in casual outfits as well as their dance outfits.

One of the benefits of working with a dance photographer like myself is that they can tell me what leap they’re going to do, and I know what’s coming, and I know where they need to put their hair so it doesn’t end up in their face. And I’m also adept at catching the peak of the leap in a single shot.
