Location: The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is across the street from Millennium Park, and just a block away in the opposite direction from Grant Park. While it is possible to shoot inside the Art Institute, I’ve never actually done a photo session inside. I focus on the outside of the building, and when the garden is open, it’s really a nice place to do part of a shoot.

There are water features in the garden area, and the surrounding building has amazing architecture to work with.

I usually combine this location with a shoot at Millennium, Grant Park, or even taking a walk over to the Riverwalk. This needs to be the first stop if we’re going to be inside the garden, as it often closes as early as 5 pm.
